Pandoy and his Wholly Goodness

One common trait of Pandoy is their benevolence. Like a holy man of variant microorganism in a bacterial platter; pandoy is our holy host of all viruses in a community. In the Philippines Compassion is thought in every discipline, including those without one. One common example can be commonly seen within its family system, if this common goodwill to pandoy is displayed then anarchy is born in every household the rate comparable to the mice family. Juan Tamad goes to his compassionate mother for consideration, benevolent mother sympathizes, Juan Tamad becomes the King, as of Juan de la Cruz’s pet vehicle, King Nothing they say. We see every day, full blown (out of proportioned) man sitting in the porches of their mothers abode on a bench screaming profanities, spanking their children, and drowning their selves consuming alcohol among their peers with the same predicament. This is definitely the formula to make any community a future graveyard in time. If the law allows making any man to be proven incapable to be quarantined, would community life live in fruitful color?

Pandoy and his community definitely have to make an act. Like the mayna bird stricken at their haulas, keeping patience until their masters delivers them their ratios and then waits another day; patience is a key here to their survival. Indeed, to Pandoy, Survival is everything, but the world to him is as a wall, vertical and non-horizontal. Pandoy loves death-defying heights, limits where no-man had gone before and never been seen before greatness inherent within his self, thus pandoy is always impatient; he opens his favorite TV and sees great heights where like his dream can finally be fulfilled, every time he walks or rides in his jeepney, he sees other young, able people doing the acts of great heights that rushes within his blood, but everytime he retires the great wall appears and his yearning to achieve his dreams halts into great depths and materializes into frustration, thus he run again the next day. Pandoy is like a big mouse running for small leftovers from his neighbor mice’s hole. Patience is a virtue. Patient Pandoy, where would you like to go tomorrow!

Pandoy’s Gold Mine

Pandoy’s mentality continues to humiliate the people of their republic by denying the fact that the Jeepney is a symbol of Poverty. In a nation whose only product is manned, owned, run, facilitated by pandoy himself, who himself cannot deny the fact that the only living quarter he can only have is a lot quarantined by the government or even worse by squatting around and forcibly making the government own the land, it is a guaranteed sign that their country and their product is a result of deprivation and poverty.

How can a band of people deprive their country of sustenance and economy? Many Filipinos working abroad are professionals save the others who try their luck on foreign land; many Filipinos would love to help the country making it economically feasible. Filipinos by themselves can harness within their spirit the Filipino lifestyle and live within their means, but because Pandoy thrives in the city of the Filipino people their system slowly dies, and goes down the bottom of the food chain as one of the worse third world country thriving today.

Pandoy’s time should be counted or else the Filipinos time will. Think of you buying more petroleum than what you can eat, it’s bad business, but the dealers would definitely love you. The Philippines have a lot of products and professionals they can share the world, why buy gas?

If a country crumbles to its feet, it’s no good being a saint at all saving the thousands of Pandoy crying for mercy making the Filipino people believe that they are helping the country. Compare street gambling, prostitution, selling illegal goods, copyright infringement, syndicated street children to professional nurses, physicians, doctors, chefs, architects, designers, etc. It’s a relief.

If Pandoy thrusts his head making you believe they are the Filipino’s hero, pambansang bayani, our gold mine, that the Jeepney is the Philippines Heritage! What would you do? I would say, “O eto piso… tigil na!” – “Here’s a loose change, please give way…” The Filipinos does not deserve this.

The Ultimate Pandoy Mentality

Lurking around malls, campuses, barrios, villages and hearing the young Pandoy kids today one may find them amusing, often these kids hang around their homes as groups, ‘barkadas’ by the time they reach young adulthood they are now on a route, seeking the most ‘in’ thing their peers can produce, come the most obnoxious trend of a neighbor having the excellence of landing a job and a luxury, these group of young kids, barely making it out of their schools alive, suffers a chronic dilemma of a redartade attitude making a yard stick of that person thinking life is easy “..see our nerdy neighbor made it! It will be probably much easier for me!” ten years later their neighbor had moved out and had traveled to different countries twice and them still the ol’ pandoy, they would now think that their neighbor was not fair and believes that there is an injustice to the system. …”(They) had tried their best and their best is just not good enough” A line from the lyrics of their present favorite past-time the karaoke, can be heard of them singing!

This mentality of thinking that their government, the system, the corporate people, the public, the masses, the foreigners, the universe in a greater term are against them in some ultimate systematic and ritualistic way is a delusion and a mental stigma that the young pandoy carries for over a couple of centuries now. Things never evolved for them, if the motorized tractors for plowing fields was never introduced to their great grand fathers after WWII they would probably still tender carabaos under their houses and till the farm until sunset and go the the nearest internet café after to play counter strike and sing their favorite tunes via the karaoke! All is a constant to pandoy and anything outside them are the ultimate extremities that it just matters because it’s the ‘in’ thing. Technology seems never shed a light to young pandoy’s head.

Crime today if they hear it’s done in a foreign country would probably be repeated here in the exact manner, copy-cat delusional deviant!

Whatever the ‘in’ thing for today is what pandoy will ultimately aim for, with or without, he will aim for the sky. Funny is, most of the Filipinos of today has learnt the value of investing (i.e., school, college, career, as well as in finance, etc.), in here the pandoys are at an end! They find no light at the end of the tunnel! To them the world has held a conspiracy that pandoys are looked as a third-world minority and they believe some sort of outer hand is doing this to them! They believe it’s cool (investing) that they should be able to do it as well! They believe whatever everybody is doing should be applicable to them as well. Probably Time had played a curse among their kind, they keep hitting the wall and still they cannot still find the light.

This is a REAL dilemma! May god help pandoy!

Jeepney Education System

Here again is the scholastic value of having Jeepneys running around the city. Many children today are on the verge of martyrdom to the path of the Jeepney education system, where even though the choice for today’s children are clear, Pandoy choose instead to just say no to education. No read – No write. These children from 18 above lines up for a professional license early on wounding a short cut to the Pandoy haven. The same children 20 years later, though no properties at hand but because they believe they had created a system within a system tries to run and create organizations to help maintain their clutch. This same children will soon run legalized gambling, try to stage rallies for their own benefit, try to live off unclaimed lands, try to steal electricity –even cable television lines for their own consumption, try to sell pirated materials, ship illegal loots, and other crimes the city of Manila had grown to be numb of.

It is clear that today education is the number one ticket to LIFE. Life is what all human beings are here for. To Pandoy life is much like what is in their tiny heads, borrowing oxygen from the earth as an excuse to be alive. Education is spent by children of correct ages normally, it is not a burden. In the public school scene, because of Pandoy’s children fearing the BIG picture escapes as fast as you can say “Oops I think I taw a putty cat!..”. They believe that because of Jeepney’s history of about 50 years in Manila that living the same lives as their fathers will do good for them. I pity the same children later finding out that money is the root of all evil. In this manner, they live of the streets professionally and they will do whatever it is available on the street, crime or not, as long as they can sustain the life that IS on their heads. The same drug pushers, gambling peddlers, street pimps, pirated vcd – dvd porters, illegal vendors, etc. are the same people sitting in-front of the lowly Jeepney giving service to the Filipino people!

It is funny that Pandoy’s crimes are now getting a commercial status. You now see Pandoy’s loot on every mall on the Philippines or tianges near every mall. They now sell pirated vcd – dvd, software, etc. commercially. They now see the value of commerce. Though in their feeble mind it does not matter but definitely Pandoys hand on this crimes destroys many intellectual properties educated people had valued.

Hilarious indeed, Pandoy declares to the world he does not want to Read and Write, with his exploits will he ever find the right place to put his self to? Maybe, steal land by shoveling off the shores of the Philippines and throw it some million miles away from there so then they can have their own country, own government, own rules that they always have been living for! Welcome to Pandoy Land!

Mang Pandoy the Informal Settler

A common problem in the Philippines is the existence of squatters or informal settlers. Let’s look deeply into the squatters and try to find out who and what they are, honestly as a kid going from manila informal settlers are a common sight, if you talk to them one will notice that they can’t even speak straight tagalog, most speak with different dialects. To them life in the city seems much easier than in the province. Why do this people try and go to a place where they have no known relatives and have no sure mode of income move toward to a place where the cost of living is costlier than the place where they came from? Is it stupidity? Let’s look closer…

Life in the province is boring considering if it’s influenced by too much hype. Even people with money who grew up in the city make the province their haven to earn more money. Most of these informal settlers try to sustain themselves by squatting and begging for money.

If these people realize that if in the province where they have families strive and stay in the province, live a normal life as a “syano”, informal settlers would not grow as it is now in the cities of the Philippines. Sad to say when living a life stopping or hopping is not an option, strength and perseverance are its good traits. Land reform and ownership in the Philippines is doomed to fail because people here are fighting within the lines of ancestral or birthright within a land. If these people managed to stay and fight for their land, its reform would have been created a long time ago but since there are no people to stand within their land, the fight for who owns what began and is still a war within its confines to this date.

Since the volume of informal settlers in the Philippines are growing fast and with its government welcoming the swarm, in form of food, shelter, clothing, even lands and jobs, I ask what is the economic impact of these for a community? Let’s look at Sir John Conway’s Game of Life, See more at math.com and wikipedia, where any live cell with fewer than two neighbors dies, as if by loneliness. Any live cell with more than three neighbors dies, as if by overcrowding. Any live cell with two or three neighbors lives, unchanged, to the next generation. Any dead cell with exactly three neighbors comes to life. Just an analogy with these too much or too little cells makes a system dead, a dead Game of Life happens when its lonely or overcrowded… just like a swarm attacking a healthy system, a game dies a lonely gilder. Any system that grows fast fades as fast and relies on its remaining entities for its future, sad to say a system which is stable remains stable no matter if it’s weak or strong. Pandoy’s participation in a system is needed where they can live and relive themselves without harboring another system, because with that another system dies. And with that an ending statement for this is to ‘live and let live…’ and a great year ahead.

Jeepney Part II: Si Mang Pandoy the Balikbayan

Here’s another article for our, what it turns out the favorite topic, the Jeepney. Why I say this? We’ll for one reason is a lot of people I know are asking if Jeepney as a transportation business could be a good source of other income. Honestly this is the root of it all. As you can see a lot of us now working earning what a college grad, some with MBA but are getting concerned about their future are eyeing on transportation as a viable resource of other income. Looking at it objectively, yes you see a lot of Jeepneys around, of course this is the Philippines and in here Jeepney’s are a common sight but it does not highly correlate that Jeepney’s can be a source of other income.

In the 70’s when the time of our fathers who had been working as an overseas employee we saw the boom of the Jeepney’s one reason is a lot of Filipino locals thought our fathers can be profitable by selling them Jeepney’s and offering their services as driver / mechanic and as you can see Jeepney’s as a transportation business sounds it could make a profit. Makes sense and sounds like a fair trade, our father’s will not have to toil to earn other income while the locals earn some and provide a service. On the first 3 years the business may run, you’ll say like it was the best decision but after that time the Jeepney’s parts has already worn and this time you really have to pull out heavily on your pocket just to make the business stand, if you have seen a drug addict on his habit this might be the most common reaction on the Jeepney business; after our balikbayan father had spent all his hard earned money for this business and on a very short time its like all his possessions are being pulled out of him, what else would our father’s do?

But still tens of thousands of Jeepney’s are running along the roads of Manila and not only here it’s on every province of the Philippines! Yes and No, maybe a lot of our balikbayan father’s are still being victimized by the Jeepney luring business and not because you see a lot of it means it’s profitable. As you can see on my first article about the Jeepney business you pay more for the gas, in this case diesoline, than what is returned to you. In any business where you pay more than its profit is bad business. Yes if you calculate you will get at most 50% of a units earning, and it may sound good to some but in reality you’ll only get as much as 10-20% of the units earnings, besides the gas you need to buy its parts too i.e., tires, parts, body, upholstery, also paper fees, insurance, everything! Just imagine a car that is ran everyday to about 200km daily! If you’ve own a car you know the car wont last and it will take money for repairs. Surprisingly, tens of thousands of mang pandoy’s pet transport still thrives in the city of Manila, of all the father’s we have known to have made a business out of Jeepney’s either had stepped out after 3-5 years and some may stick to it to 20 years! Then again just maybe many are being still victimized with its lure as a business. Lesson learned: Don’t go with the tide for it will eat you! Cheers!
